Abstract: The possibilities of using nuclear high temperature reactor power stations for the chemical industry of the BRD will be estimated for the decade 1980 - 1990. This consideration includes the secandary energy forms needed by the chemical industry - high temperature heat and Iow temperature heat in steam and electric power,lt will be shown that it is completely possible to couple a chemical plant to a HTR nuclear power station by suitable dimensioning of the production spectrum and production volumes. Purthermore the effect of eheaper secondary energy is calculated for the micro-economieal section . The possible reduetion for tost of production or for cost of manufacturing for 34 chemical products are absolutely and percentually determined by a precisely distribution of the different kinds of expenses in energy - and non energy costs. Besides this there are considered the ecological consequences by using nuclear power an the contrary to usual fossil energies, because we have to recognize that beyond mere aspects of profit - ableness the application of new technologies will be finally determined by environmental aspects .
